Steel Billets are the Second-Stage Product of Steel Production. Billets are created directly through continuous casting or extrusion or indirectly through hot rolling an ingot or bloom. Steel billets must undergo a series of manufacturing processes before they can be used for various purposes. A billet is a length of metal that has a round or square cross-section, with an area less than 36 sq in (230 cm2). Billets are further processed via profile rolling and drawing.
