Steel supply markets

Prepare a destination-specific steel enquiry. These guides explain which product, delivery and inspection details to agree before comparing offers; they are not statements of stock or delivery availability.

Azerbaijan

For steel supply enquiries to Azerbaijan, identify the receiving point in Baku before requesting delivered terms. Separate material acceptance from unloading and final delivery responsibilities; a city name alone does not define a shipment scope.

Uzbekistan

For Uzbekistan, distinguish a Tashkent receiving requirement from a Bukhara destination in the same enquiry. These are separate delivery points: the grade and size can match while inland handling and delivery scope differ.

Georgia

For supply enquiries to Georgia, distinguish delivery to Tbilisi from a port handover or another receiving point. Confirm the product specification first, then define the transport and unloading scope for the actual destination.

United Arab Emirates

For a UAE steel enquiry, state whether the destination is a Dubai receiving site or a named port handover. Do not treat a port price and delivery to a fabrication site as the same commercial scope.

Qatar

For a Qatar steel enquiry, distinguish a Doha receiving site from a port handover. State whether the steel will be received as full bundles or prepared for staged installation.

Oman

For Oman, identify whether the enquiry concerns receipt in Muscat or handover at Sohar. A port destination and a fabrication-site delivery require different receiving instructions.

Armenia

For an Armenian steel enquiry, provide the Yerevan receiving address and maximum lengths the site can handle. Compare material specifications separately from the inland delivery arrangement.

Turkmenistan

For Turkmenistan, distinguish an Ashgabat receiving site from a Turkmenbashi handover request. Specify whether the quotation should cover the final inland destination.

Kuwait

For Kuwait, distinguish receipt at a Kuwait City site from a Shuwaikh port handover. Include the lengths and bundle sizes that the receiving operation can accept.

Raw Material

Direct reduced iron (DRI)

Identify product form, metallization, total iron, carbon and fines. Compare offers on the same moisture, sampling and acceptance basis.

Ferro alloys

Name the alloy and exact grade: ferromanganese and ferrosilicon need different analyses. State principal element content, carbon and impurity limits, sizing and packing, then agree batch sampling.

Forged grinding steel balls

Specify diameter, steel grade, hardness requirements and any agreed impact or wear tests. Compare the proposed grinding media against the operating requirement, rather than diameter alone.

Iron ore

State ore form, iron analysis, unwanted elements, size distribution and moisture. Keep the assay method and dry or wet tonnage basis consistent when comparing quotations.

Pig iron

Identify foundry or steelmaking use and the required carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus and sulfur analysis. Agree piece form and lot sampling before comparing grade-based offers.

Flat Products

Cold-rolled sheet and coil

Give thickness, width and sheet length or coil weight, together with grade and surface finish. Define oiling, edge condition and processing scope so finishing extras are comparable.

Heavy steel plate

State plate thickness, width, length, grade and delivery condition. Identify any project-specific impact or ultrasonic inspection requirement and the weight basis used in the quotation.

Hot-rolled sheet and coil

Distinguish sheet from coil and give gauge, width, cut length or coil weight. Include grade, dimensional tolerances and the required surface condition before comparing processing and material prices.

Steel slab

Specify slab thickness, width, length and heat chemistry for the intended rolling process. Agree surface and internal acceptance requirements; dimensions alone do not define an equivalent slab offer.

Long Products

Reinforcement bar

State nominal diameter, straight length or coil form, full grade and reference standard. Compare nominal versus weighed mass consistently and identify bundle and certificate requirements.

Hot-rolled steel round bar

Give diameter, dimensional tolerance, length and steel grade. Specify heat-treatment and surface condition where relevant, and distinguish theoretical from weighed mass in the offer.

Hot-rolled steel billet

Provide billet cross-section, length and required heat analysis for downstream rolling. Agree casting condition, surface acceptance and heat identification rather than buying by section size alone.

Wire Rod

State diameter, grade and downstream use such as drawing, welding or cold forming. Define coil weight and handling dimensions, and identify surface or processing requirements that affect comparability.

Sections

Equal angles

Give both equal leg dimensions, thickness, length and grade. Use the linked guide to distinguish geometric weight from the agreed mill-section mass and rolling tolerances.

HEA steel beams

Specify the complete HEA designation and verify actual depth, flange width and web/flange dimensions. Include connection requirements, length and grade; nominal height alone is insufficient.

HEB steel beams

Quote the exact HEB section and its own reference mass. Check flange and web requirements against connection drawings and state grade and bar length; an HEA designation is not an equivalent order.

IPE steel beams

Identify the exact IPE designation, length and material grade. Check the section dimensions and unit-mass reference before comparing offers for frames or fabricated members.

U channels

Choose UPN or UE explicitly, then specify height, flange width, web/flange thickness and length. Keep the series-specific reference weight and grade consistent across offers.

Profiles

Circular hollow sections

State outside diameter, wall thickness, length, grade and manufacturing route. Agree the required inspection document, surface condition and any relevant weld or dimensional checks.

Rectangular hollow sections

Provide both outside side dimensions, wall thickness, length and grade. Specify manufacturing route and any corner-radius or fit-up requirements important to the fabrication.

Square hollow sections

Give outside side size, wall thickness, length and grade, together with the applicable manufacturing specification. Compare wall and corner tolerances as well as the agreed mass basis.
