Steel billet Technical and buying guide

EMRA Steel supports sourcing enquiries for Steel billet. Review product dimensions, grades, standards and inspection requirements before requesting a quotation. Confirm quantity, delivery destination and the required schedule with our sales team.

Billets are semi-finished steel stock for further rolling. Cross-section and chemistry should suit the downstream process.

Specification and dimensions

Specify the following dimensions or analysis details for Steel billet: Diameter and length for bars and rebar; diameter and coil weight for wire rod; billet cross-section and length.. The examples below are enquiry references, not a confirmed stock range.

Grades and applicable standards

For Steel billet, agree the required chemical composition, quality limits, sampling and acceptance criteria with the supplier. Specify any governing material specification; finished structural-steel standards should not be assumed to cover raw materials.

Applications and project requirements

For Steel billet, share the intended production process or project specification. Required properties, processing condition, surface acceptance and dimensional tolerances should reflect the actual application. Supply selection should be reviewed against the technical requirements rather than based on dimensions alone.

Inspection and traceability

Agree heat or batch identification, chemical analysis, applicable tests and dimensional checks before ordering. Specify inspection documents, acceptance criteria and any independent inspection requirements.

Steel Billet Sizes, Grades and Buying Guide

Steel billets are semi-finished feedstock for further rolling. EMRA Steel reviews billet enquiries against the required cross-section, steel analysis and downstream process. Billet specifications must be agreed separately from the specification of the finished rolled product.

Billet Sizes and Lengths

The reference catalogue describes square sections from 100 to 250 mm and length options of 6 and 12 m. Examples listed include 125 × 125 mm and 150 × 150 mm. These are enquiry references, not a confirmed EMRA Steel stock range. State both section dimensions, exact length, tolerances and total tonnage.

3SP and 5SP Grade Enquiries

3SP and 5SP appear as billet trade designations. When requesting either, specify the full grade designation, governing standard and edition, required ladle analysis and limits for carbon, manganese, silicon, phosphorus and sulphur. A shorthand grade name alone is not a complete purchase specification.

Standards and Technical Acceptance

Where a GOST 380 grade is requested, confirm its full designation and the agreed chemical requirements. Do not assume equivalence to an EN structural steel grade. EN 10025-2 concerns finished structural steel delivery requirements and should not be used alone as a complete billet casting and acceptance specification. Agree surface acceptance, dimensions, traceability and inspection documents for the billet order.

100 × 100 mm Billet Price Enquiry

For 100 × 100 mm billets, state the requested length, complete grade, analysis limits, quantity and destination. Confirm the price basis, inspection requirements and delivery schedule with EMRA Steel before comparing offers.

125 × 125 mm Billet Price Enquiry

For 125 × 125 mm billets, state the requested length, complete grade, analysis limits, quantity and destination. Confirm the price basis, inspection requirements and delivery schedule with EMRA Steel before comparing offers.

130 × 130 mm Billet Price Enquiry

For 130 × 130 mm billets, define length, tolerances, grade and the intended rolling process. Include required heat identification and analysis documents. Availability, lead time and pricing are confirmed against the complete enquiry, not the section size alone.

150 × 150 mm Billet Price Enquiry

For 150 × 150 mm billets, define length, tolerances, grade and the intended rolling process. Include required heat identification and analysis documents. Availability, lead time and pricing are confirmed against the complete enquiry, not the section size alone.

Preparing a Billet Order

Send cross-section × length, full grade and standard, chemistry requirements, tonnage, surface acceptance criteria, inspection documents and delivery destination. For example: square billet 150 × 150 mm, 12 m, grade and chemistry to be agreed, with heat analysis and delivery terms confirmed before order acceptance.
